We have begun harvesting our cherry crop consisting of Del Mar and Brooks varieties. We will harvest cherries until mid-May which will lead into Apricots. The weather has been very favorable this season and the rain has stayed away from our ripe fruit.

Tomato transplanting has moved from Firebaugh up North to the Crows Landing area. The plants are visually strong and are being planted in the soil with ease from the winter rains. We are on pace to begin harvesting the tomato for cannery in late-July to early-August.

"California's 2007 almond acreage is estimated at 740,000 acres, up 1 percent from the 2006 acreage of 730,000. Of the total acreage for 2007, 615,000 acres were bearing and 125,000 acres were non-bearing. Preliminary bearing acreage for 2008 is estimated at 660,000 acres," according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
